Stitch Fix :: For the Mom Who Hates Shopping
It was time for some new clothes; like I seriously had clothes from before I had a kid nine years ago hanging in my closet. Truth be told, there was part of me hoping one day I’d fit into them again and make them work, but you can imagine how totally outdated they were. I knew I needed to add some new and more hip pieces to my wardrobe.I admit I hate shopping, but even if I didn’t, it’s a rare occasion that I have the time to actually go shopping and try a whole bunch of things on. I thought about online shopping but I really need to try my clothes on. I despise having to send things back. Whether it’s taking them back to the store physically, or, depending on the store, often times having to pay shipping on something I wasn’t even keeping.
One day, a coworker shared Stitch Fix with me. I always loved her outfits so I was all ears. After hearing about it, I knew I wanted to at least give it a try. At first, I was skeptical about the price, because not only do I hate shopping, I’m also very cheap. However, I put my frugality aside and set up a profile. I was very honest about my size and what styles and colors I liked, etc. Then I learned I could link my Pinterest to my Stitch Fix account. So, whenever I’d see an outfit on Pinterest that I loved, I pinned it to my profile for my personal stylist to see. Win!
I had my first box shipped to my office where I work. It was like Christmas! Even my coworkers couldn’t wait to see what was in my box. I LOVED it! There were some pricey pieces in there, so I wasn’t sure if I’d keep the whole box. They give you 3 days to try on and send back what you don’t want to keep. Having used Stitch Fix regularly now, I can say that I have never needed 3 days. I usually know instantly just by looking at them which items I want to keep. Typically, I try on those pieces and if they fit I keep them. All of my favorite tops come from Stitch Fix!
Another thing I love is that your $20 styling fee goes towards whatever you’ve decided to keep. There’s also a discount if you decide to keep the whole box. The best thing, in my opinion though, is that it’s not a monthly subscription so there’s no commitment. You can choose when you want a box and change it anytime before your box has shipped. It can be set it up for a box to come once a month, every 3 months or even every 6 months. I’ve started doing every 3 months with the exception of my birthday in March and Mother’s Day, as gifts to myself! Also, if you share with a friend, once that friend’s first box ships, whether they purchase an item from it or not, you get a $25 credit on your account towards your next purchase. Definitely a win! They’ve also added a men’s line so you can shop for the hubby too! So! If you’re like me, either you just hate to shop, OR you just don’t have the time to go in an try things on, check out Stitch Fix. Make it work for you and your budget. I always say it’s worth it to at least try it once!
