GO! SEE EXPLORE! :: Sugar Ghost Ice Cream

All my life I have been plagued with the inability to tolerate lactose. In my youth, that never did stop me though! I ate ice cream, cheese, and queso. But every since I progressed out of my 20s, dairy hit differently! And now, as I approach 40, consuming more than a spoonful of dairy can be deadly. Not only for me, but for those around me too.

That’s why on the way to Sugar Ghost, I gave my family “THE SPEECH.”

“I’m gonna get ice cream. Regular dairy ice cream.” **Holds hand up to stop the kids complaining.** “I’m gonna eat it. Today is a treasure and I should be able to celebrate it like everyone else.”

So, with reckless abandonment, I order a scoop of cookies and cream and a scoop of salted caramel nestled gently in a HUGE waffle cone. I was beyond elated. I ate EVERY BIT of my ice cream, fully knowing that the countdown to hell had begun.

After everyone finished, we did not delay. On my behalf, the entire family headed straight home. We did not pass Go. We did not collect $200. (One of my children also suffers from lactose intolerance, but their young bowels don’t react as badly as mine.)

After arriving home, parenting took over. Hours passed. Day fell to night. I went to bed. I awoke ready to greet the day. About half way through the 2nd day, I realized something: I ate A LOT of ice cream, and I did not get an upset stomach or diarrhea.  I asked my child if they got a stomach ache. They replied, “You know what??? I didn’t.” Hmmmm….

So, naturally, I went back. This time I only got 1 scoop of cookies and cream in a waffle cone. And again….NO ADVERSE EFFECTS! Not to get too excited, I asked another friend who is also lactose intolerant to try Sugar Ghost. And guess what?? NO ADVERSE EFFECTS!

I don’t know what’s going on at Sugar Ghost, but I’m completely overjoyed!

Sugar Ghost has several delicious flavors: Nanner Puddin (taste like Grandma’s banana pudding), Lavender Honey, Cookies and Cream, Salted Caramel, and Mud Island (chocolate, pretzels and more chocolate).

But don’t just stop at their ice cream; give their Boba a try too! They have milk teas and fruit teas of so many flavors! Most of the milk teas are made with non-dairy milks!

There’s one secret about Sugar Ghost that I haven’t told my family about, and it’s their flights. Yes, you can get a flight of 4 ice creams! This is perfect if you can’t decide on a single flavor. Sugar Ghost also has shakes and screams (frozen treats similar to a blizzard.) But what I really love is the taco ice cream! It’s made with their waffle cone that is shaped like a taco and filled with the soft serve vanilla.
