Friday Favorites by Crady
I’m back with another round of my current favorites! (Check out my list from last year here.) Once again, here are five things I’m loving right now. And I’m hoping that some of my favorites become some of your favorites too!
Knifebird Happy Hour
Knifebird is a great little wine bar located on the outskirts of Cooper Young, across the street from Railgarten. It’s got various sizes of cheese boards, yummy salads and sandwiches, plus a great wine list. But where it really shines is happy hour. From 4-6 pm you can get a medium house cheese board PLUS a bottle of wine for $34. It easily feeds two and is perfect for a couple of girls out on the town. Plus, at that hour, hopefully your plus one is doing dinner and bathtime!
Conditioner as Shaving Cream
So I’ve always known this was a thing, and I’ve tried it a time or two in the past when I was out of shaving cream. But I’ve never really liked the concept. The conditioner was always too thick and would clog up my razor. Or it was too slippery. But a few weeks ago I was out of shaving cream and my kids’ Trader Joe’s conditioner was in my bathtub, so I gave it another go. And man, it was a game changer. It’s thin enough to not clog up my razor blades. Plus it left my legs feeling literally silky smooth and conditioned for days. I may never go back.
Boozy Popsicles
Do I like popsicles? Most definitely. Do I like to have a summer-y drink by the pool? Also one of my favorites. So last summer, when I discovered that Truly was making boozy ice pops, I was excited (bonus: you can get them at Target). There are three flavors and all are yummy. At only 80 calories each, it really is a perfect summer “cocktail”! (Side note: I’m sure you can just make your own boozy popsicles; I just haven’t tried to yet!)
Goodr Sunglasses
I’m not at all embarrassed to admit that I own 4 pairs of these amazing sunglasses. They’re cheap ($30-35 per pair), they come in tons of cute styles and colors, plus you can get them locally at all the running stores. They actually stay on your head when you’re exercising or running. Plus companies can create custom pairs. I love them; they’re my favorite.
New Midtown Bakery
A new bakery, The Ginger’s Bread & Co., just opened up in midtown on Union, just west of Belvedere and it is AMAZING. For the past couple of years, Jimmy Hoxie has been selling bread out of his house and at a couple of local stores. But now he’s got a brick and mortar of his own. In addition to freshly baked bread and pastries, he has a bread club and does custom desserts and treats. Open Tuesday-Saturday, this is a place you’re going to want to check out ASAP. If you go, I highly recommend the peach and ginger scone. OMG.
