Trader Joe’s Must Haves For the Busy Mom

I’m sure you have heard by now that we finally got a Trader Joe’s here in Memphis/Germantown! I was excited to see what all of the hype was about and decided to check it out the Sunday after it opened.  My 30 lb 1 year old decided the car ride to Germantown was the perfect time to take an epic nap that he could not wake up from.   So I walked into the store ready for an arm workout and grocery shopping for the week. 

Surprisingly, the store was not insanely busy that Sunday morning, and the shelves were fully stocked.  I would compare the appearance of the store to a Fresh Market, but the prices to Kroger.  All of the employees I encountered were extremely friendly and ready to help, so that’s always a plus!  After one additional trip, and a bunch of research, here are my TJ’s takeaways:

Trader Joe’s is perfect for the busy mom (and aren’t we all busy?). They have a huge variety of healthy-ish freezer foods and already prepped veggies. “Must Haves” include:

  • Frozen Orange Chicken (add broccoli and rice)
  • Frozen Tikka Masala Chicken (includes rice)
  • Mushroom Ravioli (add Chicken Sausage to make it a meal)
  • Cauliflower Pizza Crust (just add toppings)
  • Cauliflower Gnocci & Veggies
  • Fresh pre-washed and prepped Veggies (I’ve tried broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, and greenbeans)
  • Everything But The Bagel Seasoning (this is not a meal, but it might as well be. It is delish!)

Trader Joe’s has the best seasonal items. Do you love pumpkin spice? They’ve got you!

  • Pumpkin Spice Pancake Mix
  • Pumpkin Spice & Sweet Cream Muffins
  • Pumpkin Tortilla Chips with Harvest Salsa                                  
  • Apple Cider Vinegar Soap & Candles
  • Hot Cocoa Toaster Pastries
  • Jalepeno Lemonade

All in all I had a great experience and we loved spicing up our weekly meals.   I know I am leaving so many must-haves out so let me know what your favorites are!
