It doesn’t need to be a Tuesday to enjoy tacos. In fact, rumor has it any day is the perfect day to eat a taco, but not just not any taco. Let us introduce you to a little known quasi-food truck: TACOnganas.

Ok, so technically they have 3 locations. But let’s talk about the one located on Summer Avenue. TACOnganas originally parked in the Auto Zone parking lot. It quickly became more than just a food truck when they added some twinkly lights and portable chairs and tables. Word got out and people lined up across the Auto Zone parking lot just to order the tacos. Soon it was clear they needed their own room and more space. So, moving just down the road, TACOnganas took over an empty lot and set up shop.

Now, TACOnganas is a bustling outdoor restaurant; you still order from their food truck window, but it has been permanently fixed in their new location. They paved the parking lot, added permanent colorful picnic tables over an astroturf patio area, added a refrigerator full of authentic bottled drink choices and a canopy with those same twinkly lights.

Now, you’re probably asking what makes these tacos so darn special that people will wait over 30 minutes to get them. Well, first, they are huge. Double the size of your average street taco. And second, they are stuffed with cheese (not a normal street taco thing), generously stuffed with your meat of choice, and then fried. YEP. FRIED to perfection, where the cheese is ooey-gooey but the shell is just the right amount of crunchy. Instead of marinated veggies on the side, TACOnganas serves a marinated coleslaw that’s not spicy but sort of sour. Added to the top of the taco right before you bite it makes the taco heavenly.

But don’t worry. If you’re not a taco person, they also offer giant burritos the size of your head, soup, and an assortment of other sandwiches.
