Friday Favorites by Cara
The past year has been stressful for all of us, so even more reason to surround yourself with the things you love. It’s all about comfort, folks. That’s why I’ve been loving the Friday Faves series of blogs that Memphis Mom Collective has been doing, and I’m so excited to offer you a list of my own!
Here we go!
GelMoment
After I became a stay-at-home mom, I tried doing my own nails at home after a decades-long salon gel manicure habit. That lasted about a month, because I refused to wait for my nails to dry. Then, when COVID hit, I began looking again for a gel manicure system I could use at home. Enter GelMoment. I instantly fell in love. I can do my own salon-quality manicure in less than 15 minutes for a fraction of the cost of the salon. And it is completely dry in 45 seconds! The colors are gorgeous, and I’m saving tons of money. I am SO obsessed. (Full disclosure, I am now a GelMoment distributor. I loved it THAT much.)
Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask
I had been chopping my hair short for the past few years, and I recently asked an expert what I should do to help my hair grow out. I missed my ponytail, and I needed it back! She told me about Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask to help nourish my hair and make it grow, and I am in love with it. I’ve been using it a couple times a week for more than a year. It smells AMAZING, and my hair is in great shape. It’s growing, and it’s smooth, and I have noticeably fewer split ends. I get mine from my salon, but you can order it online too.
DorothyArt Yay or Nay
My friend, local artist, and entrepreneur Dorothy Collier has a fascinating Instagram account. I’ll wait here while you go follow her @dorothyart. Be sure to keep an eye on her stories for when she does “Yay or Nay.” She goes antiquing around Memphis and the Mid-South, and shares unique finds that are up for bidding. She usually does it once per week—mostly on the weekends—and bidding is open for 24 hours. Don’t you want a personal shopper with an artist’s eye and the ability to find the cutest and quirkiest things around? So fun. I get way too excited when I see she has another Yay or Nay coming up.
The Grove at GPAC
Is it possible to be in love with something you’ve never experienced? We haven’t yet been to an event at the Grove at GPAC, but I couldn’t be more excited about frequenting the venue this spring and summer. The Grove is an outdoor venue at GPAC that is offering a series of happy hours, concerts, family movie nights and more. Yay! Live Music! I’ve almost forgotten what it sounds like. You can purchase tickets at gpacweb.com.
Bella+Canvas T-shirts
If you’re like me, when you find the perfect clothing item, you buy more and more of it like it’s going to go out of stock and never come back (I have been burned by this happening more times than I can count). That’s why I have five pairs of the exact same black pants, three pairs of my favorite joggers, and 4,265 Bella+Canvas T-shirts. These are the BEST T-shirts. They are so soft; the material is high-quality, yet comfortable; they are stretchy but still hold their shape; and they come in so many great colors. I literally will wear any Bella+Canvas T-shirt … I don’t care what the design or saying is. As a matter of fact, I often go to Etsy and just search for Bella+Canvas shirts, pick a few with designs or sayings that will work just fine, and restock my T-shirt repertoire. So, if you see me in a shirt with a cute saying, just know that I probably don’t even remember what it says … it’s all about the shirt itself. Just keeping it real.
