GO! SEE! EXPLORE! :: Lucchesi’s Beer Garden
Did you know that Memphis has over 10 craft breweries? BUT there are only a few places where you can find beer from all of them, enjoy them right there on site, or create a six-pack to take home — AND all while eating some delicious grub?!
Introducing the place where you can do just that: Lucchesi’s Beer Garden!
Do you love beer? And I’m not talking about your grandpa’s beer that you snuck a sip of and now spend your entire adult life comparing to horse’s piss. No, I’m talking about craft beer. Craft beers are usually brewed by independently owned breweries and have a depth and quality of flavor that most typical beers cannot compare to. It’s beer made by a brewery in which ‘craftsmanship’ is key.
Lucchesi’s Beer Garden has been a Memphis staple for 10 years. Located in a cozy neighborhood, nestled between the historic neighborhoods of East Buntyn, Joffre, and High Point Terrace, it’s truly a family establishment. They have over 570 different kinds of craft beers at Lucchesi’s. And if those aren’t enough for you, they offer 15 beers on draft to enjoy. You will have no trouble finding your Memphis favorites (plus many others)! I recommend you check it out during Fall Break!
The Beer Garden has two sections. The front section, nearest Poplar Avenue, is open at 10:30 am Monday – Saturday and 12 noon on Sundays. Here you can casually browse the coolers, order food, and sit back and relax. You can do the same thing in the other entrance; however, there are two huge differences:
- It doesn’t open until 3 pm, so it’s much more of a bar feel than casual lunch/place to pop in and grab delicious beer.
- You MUST be 21 years or older to enter. The owner believes that, “adults need places that only adults can go.” Can we get an “Amen”?
Their menu includes gyros, a nice selection of paninis, falafels, and salads. My favorite panini is the Grizzle. It has roast beef, turkey, pepper jack, jalapenos, bruschetta, hot sweet mustard, and mayo. YUM!!!!
The Lush Club is really good too! But then so is the Pastruben made with pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss, and hot sweet mustard. Okay, so all of the food is good! You cannot take in all the food and beer goodness that Lucchesi’s Beer Garden has to offer in one visit. So go ahead and make plans to be a regular. Cheers!
