Donation Drive for the Moms in Louisiana!

The moms in Louisiana need our help, y’all. The national media is doing a fairly poor job covering the disaster happening in Louisiana, but we’ve definitely noticed. The current statistics are that well over 40,000 homes have been damaged in the flooding, and 30,000 people have had to be rescued from their homes. Livingston, Louisiana (a suburb of Baton Rouge) is 90% under water.

These numbers are staggering. It makes us feel helpless, honestly. But we need to help. We need to be there for our neighbors, and we need to take action.

One of Memphis Moms Blog’s contributing writers is a Baton Rouge native, and has volunteered to drive down to her hometown and bring supplies with her on August 28th. This is where you come in, Mama. After contacting distribution centers in the area, it has become clear that the items moms are in dire need of right now are diapers, wipes, and formula.

We have set up times and places for the people in our community to donate diapers, wipes, and formula for our MMB team member to drive down to Baton Rouge. Please consider spending a few dollars on a pack of wipes or diapers, or some baby formula, and check out our schedule below to find the best date and location for you to donate. We are also wanting to bring Target and Walmart gift cards to these families, so if you would like to donate gift cards, please make each one worth $10 so they can be distributed easily. We have organized the drop-offs by region, and also by date and time (scroll to the bottom).

Help us load a trailer to bring to these moms in need, y’all!

If you own a business that would like to either make a donation, or become a drop-off location, or if you have any questions about this donation drive at all, please email info@memphismomsblog.com.

  3. Hi! I’m a community outreach specialist with EarlySteps, Louisiana’s state early intervention program serving children ages birth to 3 with developmental delays. I work in region 9 which encompasses St. Helena, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parish. I applaud what you are doing! We have several families who lost their vehicles in the flood which means they lost car seats. Because of insurance regulations these are not often items that can be donated, so it’s been tough to find them. I have begun the process of reaching out to manufacturers and other large companies. If this is something that any of your followers would like to help out with, they are greatly needed!

    1. Thank you Judy! We do have a specific drop-off location in Prairieville that is serving as a distribution center for the families affected there. We’ve been in very close contact with them and are making sure to meet the needs of the people served by that center.
