Memphis has so many fun places to stay overnight. And while we have lots of tourists come through, it’s also fun to BE a tourist in your own city! Enter My Memphis Staycation — our ongoing series where we feature fun, unique overnight experiences. There’s something for everyone — from bougie boutique hotels to chic Airbnbs.
Did you know there’re 1, 2, or 3 bedroom apartments on the top floors of the iconic Crosstown Concourse? There are! And while most of the units are privately owned, we learned of a hidden gem to rent right on the 10th floor. Pettigrew Adventures, a family-owned business that owns and runs a variety of unique Airbnb rentals, invested in the coolest rainbow loft apartment you will ever encounter! Check it out:

Home Away From Home
Airbnbs are unique since you really do get to experience a home away from home. While hotels are fun, often they aren’t big enough for entire families. Or maybe you want a place to cook your own meals or entertain guests. The Rainbow apartment inside the Crosstown Concourse offers all these amenities and more.
There’s a HUGE, galley style kitchen with a full size refrigerator plus a dishwasher, microwave, large counter space, and other small appliances (like a toaster oven and coffee maker)!
The living room / eat-in kitchen area gives ample space to both relax and entertain. A HUGE flat screen TV (with Hulu), makes for a fun movie night or just a place to binge watch all your favorite shows. The couch and chairs are covered with soft throws and squishy pillows, the perfect place to put your feet up after a day of touring the city. The table is perfect for eating in (because, hello, so many to-go options right in the Concourse) or for playing board games or a round of cards.
The unit has 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bunk bed and the primary boasts a king. You don’t have to live out of a suitcase either. Both bedrooms offer walk-in closets and large (empty) dressers, making it really feel like a home away from home when your clothes aren’t all wrinkly and stuffed in a bag. Plus, there’s a full size washer and dryer tucked away in case laundry needs done. All linens and pillows are provided, along with plenty of extra blankets.
Supporting Local Artists
Pettigrew Adventures is well known in the Memphis community for supporting other locally owned businesses, and this includes supporting and endorsing local artists. When you first walk in The Rainbow Unit, the art immediately grabs your attention; from the custom painted walls to the framed canvases, there’s local art everywhere! The piece de resistance is the large tiger mural, painted by local artist and mom, Dorothy Collier. SO FUN!
Magical Touches
With a vegan cookbook, colorful kitchen gadgets, complimentary coffee, and body products, there are tiny magical touches everywhere in the unit. Around every corner, there was something to make you smile. A favorite was the gold tiger statue sitting on top of the refrigerator and the beautiful rainbow shower curtain. Oh! And the rainbow-shaped bookends!
Somewhere Over the … Crosstown Concourse!
What makes The Rainbow Unit even more unique is the fact that an entire “indoor city” is housed in the same building. If you’ve never experienced Crosstown Concourse, then you need to head there as soon as possible. The concourse is home to various businesses, a radio station, multiple restaurants, a coffee shop, a bakery, a corner market (tiny grocery store, selling locally made goods and alcohol), an art gallery, a children’s library, a YMCA (with outdoor pool!), a brewery, a high school… and SO MUCH MORE …. a theatre, a nail salon, a flower shop, a gift store. You truly can have a STAYCATION and eat, shop, and sleep all in one place.
