Get Organized :: My New Years Resolution

You are not alone if one of your New Years resolutions was to declutter and get organized in 2025. There’s good reason for that! Did you know that January is GET ORGANIZED month according to the National Association of Productivity and Organizing (NAPO)? This month long campaign serves to educate and promote the advantages of consulting with an organizing or productivity professional.

In honor of GO Month, here’s our friend, Erica Miller, professional organizer and owner of NEAT Method Memphis, with her Top 5 favorite products for getting and staying organized in 2025.

Getting organized isn’t a one size fits all, and despite what some people think, it’s not about picture perfect, Pinterest worthy spaces. I am always in favor of simplicity and practicality when coming up with organizational solutions for any space. There are some tried and true essential items I would recommend to most anyone looking to tidy up their home.

Drawer Organizers

Drawer inserts and organizers for kitchens, bathrooms, and desks help keep things tidy and in place. One important thing to note is to correctly measure your drawer before selecting an insert or drawer organizer in order to ensure what you purchase fits in the drawer you have available. It’s also helpful to give thought to the type of insert you select and where it will function. For example, if you use a drawer organizer to store your makeup in your bathroom, think about investing in plastic or clear acrylic ones so that they will be easy to wipe down and keep clean.

Rolling Cart

A rolling cart saves on storage space and is a convenient solution for transporting items around the house. Attention homeschool moms and moms of school-aged children: use a 3-tiered rolling cart to set up a homework center complete with all the needed school supplies, like paper, pencils, markers, crayons, paint, and any extras for completing school work or projects. Everything they need is right there in one place and best of all it can be moved from room to room if needed and tucked away when not being used. Other organization hacks for the rolling cart: use it to hold cleaning supplies or even for gift wrap storage.

Turntables

The turntable, or what my mother refers to as a “Lazy Susan,” is a key problem-solver for so many different spaces in the home. From corralling condiments in the pantry to displaying your skincare lineup in the bathroom, the turntable is versatile in its use and function. It can handle anything that can stand upright. Its rotating design helps keep its contents visible and easy to access. It’s definitely a fan favorite of mine for its versatility.

Acrylic Shelf Dividers

Shelf dividers are a great solution for separating stacks of clothes on a shelf or linens in a linen closet. This budget-friendly solution helps keep those stacks tidy and from toppling over. It provides clear definition and structure in the space. Bonus points for a neat file fold!

Labels

Want a simple way to up-level your organizing game? Stick a label on it! Keep categories general or broad as they can be ever-changing. If a basket or bin is labeled, then there’s no excuse to not put an item back in its designated home. And for the littles that can’t read yet, consider adding a picture of the item to the container (like a DOLL to house all those baby dolls or Barbies).
