CMOM is More Fun after Dark: Cirque du CMOM
The Children’s Museum of Memphis (CMOM for those in the know) was one of my kids’ favorite places when they were younger. We’d spend entire mornings there (sometimes more in the summer at the splash pad).
So when I learned that there was an annual fundraiser at the museum and the parents got to act out their inner child, I was IN! Cirque du CMOM is the most fun night. You get to dress up in crazy outfits, get your face painted, take fun pictures, ride the carousel, and eat the best food. Last year there was a disco theme and there were sequins EVERYWHERE. This year the theme is “Into Infinity” and I can’t wait to see all the “space” outfits!

In addition to food, there is so much fun stuff to do! Just like at the museum during the day, Cirque du CMOM really wants you to embrace your inner child. For example, last year (and they will be back this year), there were butt portraits. You read that right. Butt portraits. You can learn all about it here.

There is also face painting, but make it fancy. Instead of Superman or a unicorn, you can get a pretty glitter accent for your face, courtesy of Fairys and Frogs Face Painting. blo blow dry bar is also doing a braid and tinsel bar.

Don’t worry! There’s more! There are whiskey pulls and diamond pulls and photo booths and THREE VIP areas! All of this while hanging with friends, new and old.

But what you really go to Cirque du CMOM to do is dance. Party Planet is the live band this year.

And at the end of the night, there is the infamous silent disco. If you have never done a silent disco before, it is so fun. Everyone gets a set of headphones. The DJ has 2-3 channels going with different songs/genres of music. It’s great to switch from song to song and watch other people dance. But if you take your headphones off, there isn’t any music playing.

So grab your plus one or your girl group, figure out a fun, space-y outfit (Star Wars anyone?), and get to the Children’s Museum AFTER DARK. You won’t regret it!
