100 Women Who Care Memphis :: Our February Nonprofit of the Month
Memphis surpassed Salt Lake City this year to rank as the most generous metropolitan area in the United States, giving almost $6 of every $100 earned to philanthropy. With this in mind, the Memphis Moms Blog wants to feature a local Nonprofit every month. There are so many amazing organizations in our city dedicated to looking out for the well being of all Memphians, and we want to feature them. 100 Women Who Care Memphis
100 Women Who Care is a true “Giving Circle.” A giving circle is a form of participatory philanthropy where groups of individuals donate their own money or time to a pooled fund, decide together where to give these away, and in doing so, seek to increase their awareness of, and engagement in, the issues covered by the charity or community project. Instead of one person giving $100 to charity, if 100 women team up, they can give $10,000 to charity, creating a much bigger impact.
100 Women Who Care is member-run and relies on 100+ members (we’re currently at 182!) who consistently participate to impact our local community. Giving Circles have formed all around the world to help make communities stronger in a tangible, visible way. It’s a simple and effective approach to helping your donations make a real difference. There are currently more than 525 Chapters around the world making a huge impact in local communities.
At our first Member Meeting held in January, we donated over $13,000 to Room in the Inn Memphis!
How it works:
1. Show Up: April 17th, 7 pm at Theatre Memphis is the next meeting. Wine and dessert will be served!
2. Bring: a blank check for $100
3. Listen: to (3) 5-minute presentations from local charities nominated by you
4. Vote: The nonprofit with the most votes receives all of the checks which you make out at the meeting.

By registering as a member, you are agreeing to give $100 at each meeting in 2018 to local Memphis charities (We have 2 more meetings in 2018). Once you have registered, feel free to click on the “Nominate a Nonprofit” link and nominate a charity that you feel is in need of our assistance.
We are each strong in our own right, but together we are stronger!
