GO! SEE! EXPLORE! : Pink Palace Crafts Fair

A friend recently pointed out that, due to the abundance of activities, Memphis in September is way more fun than Memphis in May. I wholeheartedly agree! Between the Delta Fair and Mid-South Fair, Cooper Young Fest and Germantown Fest, Collierville Balloon Fest and Collage Dance Fest, there’s something going on every weekend. One of our family favorites, however, is the Pink Palace Crafts Fair.

The Pink Palace Crafts fair happens every year at Audubon Park, which is very centrally located in East Memphis, next to the Memphis Botanic Garden. Artists and craftsman from around the country come and participate and it is the largest arts and crafts fair in the MidSouth. It is held by the Museum of Science and History and is their largest fundraiser.

There are two types of vendors at the Pink Palace Crafts Fair. Artists are there displaying and selling their 2D art. And craftsmen are there displaying and selling their handmade crafts. This year there will be over 125 artists and vendors! In addition to the tents displaying and selling arts and crafts, there are vendors from several categories doing active demonstrations all weekend. My kids especially love to watch the glass blowing and the metal working.

There are several other kid-centered activities at the Crafts Fair. From toddlers to pre-teens, there is something fun for everyone to do.
- petting zoo with tons of animals
- giant inflatables (they’re back past the food trucks
- horse rides
- fair food and other food trucks
- farm choo choo train
