10 Gifts To Buy for the Person Who Has Everything

We all have those people on our holiday lists who are SO HARD TO BUY FOR. They either have everything and you can’t possibly think of what they might need, or they REFUSE to give you any ideas whatsoever. I used to stress about buying someone perfect gifts – I would ask and ask and ask until they told me something they wanted; but I recently decided that I’m done with that little dance.

Gifts are so much more fun when the person giving them chooses them for you. I love to receive a gift that I never thought I needed or wanted, and it warms my heart to think about someone picking something out just for me. It’s so much better than sending someone a link to something you like and then having them purchase you something like that for Christmas. Booooorrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnggg.

That being said, some people are still difficult to buy for. Or maybe you’ve been buying your Great Aunt Susan only knitting stuff for a decade because she loves to knit…and it’s time to change it up a bit. If you’re at a loss for what to get someone for the holidays, here are 10 easy ideas for things that everyone could use and would probably love to have.

  1. Drinkware

I am a sucker for drinkware. It’s a great gift for anyone who ingests beverages of any kind – so, ANYONE. There are a million places to get personalized cups or tumblers, and drinkware is also a great vehicle for team spirit if your recipient follows any particular team. Fanatics is a good place to look for team drinkware, and I also love Etsy.   1. Handmade gifts

Nothing beats a handmade gift for the holidays. It’s time to showcase your hobbies, whether that’s sewing, painting, pottery, jewelry-making, felting … the list goes on. If you need help, head to The Art Project or Paint a Piece or check out the classes at Arrow Creative. You can make a gift there – or learn how to – and the experts will be happy to help you brainstorm to create your best work.

  1. Bath bombs/salts/soaps

Every person in the world should have a secret stash of luxurious bath products. If someone says they don’t enjoy a good-smellin’ bath bomb or shower gel, he or she is a liar. (I don’t sugar-coat, y’all.) Head to Buff City Soap to grab a gift set and smell all the gorgeous fragrances. And my favorite spot to shop online for bath bombs is LUSH. I’m a big fan of their products, and they even have shower gels, beard/face washes, and other products for the dudes. What’s even better is that they are ethically sourced, cruelty-free, vegetarian, handmade, and low-waste.

  1. Local art

You can never, ever, ever go wrong with local art. Local artists are so easy to find, and there is such a variety available in this city that there are a thousand different gift options. Just go on Instagram and search #memphisart, #memphisartists, #shop901, etc. or check out this recent Memphis Mom Collective blog featuring a ton of awesome local gift shops and artists.

  1. Blankets

Time to get cozy, y’all. My favorite thing about blankets is that you can’t have too many of them. Blankets are fun to personalize or buy to represent someone’s favorite sports team; but, lately, I’m addicted to buying good quality, plush, comfy blankets. I’m going to let you in on a little secret…this Crafted By Catherine Cozy Knit Throw is less than $20 at Sam’s Club, and it is the most amazingly soft and cozy blanket I have ever owned. The real thing by Barefoot Dreams retails for $180 at Nordstrom, but I can’t imagine it getting any better than my $20 version. Buy this blanket for someone (or yourself). You won’t regret it.

  1. Bracelets

Everyone loves a good arm party! And the best thing about bracelets is that they are low commitment level and very universal. Some people don’t do earrings; some people don’t do necklaces; and I’m sure there are some people who don’t do bracelets, but I think they are a rarer breed. You can go crazy colorful, boho, monochromatic, or sparkly with your stack of bracelets, and there are several sentimental trends out there right now like name bracelets with your name or your kids’ names on them. These are great gifts for grandmas, moms, and aunts.

  1. Pajamas

Who doesn’t need more pajamas? And what I’m really talking about here is NICE pajamas. My new favorite for gifting is PJ Harlow. The fabrics are so luxurious and there are several style choices to fit any personality. A more budget-friendly option is anything from Nite Nite Munki Munki – my personal fave in the PJ market. They carry them at Target sometimes, but you can also search the brand on Amazon. They are sooooo soft, and the prints are really cute. Your friend or family member will love some nice PJs that they probably wouldn’t buy for themselves.

  1. Hats and scarves

Warm and snuggly wishes always make great gifts, and who doesn’t love a fun, new scarf or cute little pom-pom beanie? There are so many options in winter wear to match anyone’s personality, and a lot of cool handmade goods out there too. Check with local artisans and shops for good options or head over to Etsy. For example, I’m really digging the oversized chunky arm-knit scarves out there right now. I don’t have one yet, but it’s on my list.

  1. Box subscriptions

Yep, they’re the gifts that keeps on giving. I, for one, love box subscriptions. It’s like getting an awesome surprise every month. You probably don’t want to go the clothing route…so steer clear of Stitch Fix, Wantable, etc. But you can’t go wrong with things like Birchbox, FabFitFun, Rocksbox, or Ipsy. And don’t forget the tried-and-true “of the month” club subscriptions. You can get someone Cheese of the Month, Beer of the Month or Socks of the Month. And if you love to go local like me, check out The Ginger’s Bread & Co.’s Bread of the Month Club. Um, yes, please.

  1. Gourmet mixes and treats

I love to give a good gourmet mix every once in a while because it is usually not something someone would buy for themselves. Williams Sonoma always has a ton of yummy ones or you can check out Uncommon Goods for their gourmet offerings, like frozen wine slushie or soft pretzel mixes.
