MEMPHIS STAYCATION : Hyatt Centric Beale Street
Want to get away, but not too far away? This article features just one of many hotels and accommodations perfect for a Staycation, right here in our own city. Plus there’s so many things to do here — winter, spring, summer, and fall — Memphis has it all.

When you ask a tourist what they think of when they think of Memphis, many will say Beale Street of course! And now, just blocks away from this iconic avenue, you can find Memphis’ first Beale Street hotel — the Hyatt Centric. Located on the corner of Beale and South Front Street, this beautiful new hotel boasts views of both downtown and the riverfront area.
MORE THAN A HOTEL
While this hotel does fall under the Hyatt chain of hotels worldwide, the Hyatt Centric Beale Street was intentional on creating a true “Memphis” experience. From using local photography for a mural in the fitness room, to selling local baked goods and locally crafted vegan juices/salads in their “market” area, the hotel does an amazing job of showcasing our city. The Hyatt Centric is more like a resort and you’ll soon see why we could stay for days and never need to leave the property…
CHILLAXIN’ TIME
Check in begins at 3pm, so after checking out your room (we’ll talk about that in a minute), head down to the outdoor pool. Surrounded by private cabanas and padded lounge chairs, this zero entry pool is the perfect place to relax. It’s open from 8am-10pm, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy it throughout your stay.
Swimming isn’t your thing? That’s ok! They offer complimentary yard games and corn-hole on the back section of the pool deck, alongside large fire pits and squishy chairs made to hold 2 people. Or get your workout on in their fitness room. It’s outfitted with every type of equipment you could need, complete with a wall-size TV, mini fridge with chilled bottled water, and even hot towels.
TIME TO EAT
There are 4 different food options at the Hyatt Centric and all are incredible! You don’t have to be a guest staying at the hotel to enjoy the restaurants, so grab your family and friends and head to one of these for your next outing:
BECK & CALL
Beck and Call is the newest rooftop bar in Memphis. Overlooking both the river and downtown, it’s an oasis above the city. Relax around fire pits, or grab a table with a view. The cocktail menu has the classics plus some never heard of before originals. There’s beer on tap and a wine list for those not into hard liquor. The food menu is limited to appetizers, but they’re oh so yummy. The giant soft pretzel is delish (don’t forget to dip it in the sauce!) and the charcuterie tray is enough for two people.
CIMAS
Cimas is the Hyatt’s main restaurant, serving up Latin-American inspired cuisine in the evenings and a breakfast menu so mouthwatering, you’ll be craving brunch every weekend. We decided to experience a traditional Sunday brunch (after sleeping in of course!) and the offerings did not disappoint. Instead of a morning cocktail, we tried some fresh squeezed juices. Then we followed up with breakfast tacos, a giant omelet, and cereal-crusted french toast. While there’s a large inside dining room, we decided to dine al fresco and enjoy another wonderful view of the M bridge.
THE MARKETPLACE
Need a grab n’ go to get you going? The lobby has a wonderful assortment of to-go options, including a selection of bottled drinks, salads from locally owned Raw Girls, and an assortment of desserts from Muddy’s Bakeshop.
ROOM SERVICE
Want to just stay in and relax in your soft hotel robe? (For real, they provide the softest robes ever in their rooms!) Then have food delivered to your door straight from the kitchen of Cimas. The rooms all have a menu card listing sandwiches and salads available until 9pm (insider tip: call by 8:45) and then gourmet breakfast options starting up again at 7am.
SLEEPING IN LUXURY
While everything we already talked about is so fun — swimming, eating, drinking — sometimes all you want for your Staycation is to relax, maybe read a good book or watch tv, and ultimately sleep in! The Hyatt Centric offers all of this and more. The room is intimate with a little sitting area overlooking the Mississippi River, along with a table and chairs for dine in eating. The soft bed, low lighting, and exceptionally clean room give way to a feeling of luxury. Believe me when I tell you, you won’t want to leave the next day! (pppsst! That’s ok. We give you permission to just go ahead and book a second night!)
