School is in that frantic part of the year between major holidays, and my brain is fried by 4pm on Friday. I am not eager or excited to meal plan or cook the food I bought a week ago. The last thing I want to do is be responsible for opening a package, turning on an appliance, or setting a table. The most energy I have is to put my loved ones in the car and swipe a card to pay. Enter: Rock ‘n Dough Pizza & Brewery at their Orleans Station location.

What toddler doesn’t love a good multitasking dinner situation? What hand-held food goes great with bowling? Who just signs her child up for games of bowling so she can eat peacefully for 30 minutes?

The answer: my child, pizza, and me.

Not only does this Rock ‘n Dough location have amazing (huge!) salads, pizzas and a kid’s menu, it also has duckpin bowling. Mini, not too heavy, bowling balls that fit perfectly in my 6 year-old child’s hand? Say less. The pins are “set” by a very cool automated string system that keeps each frame moving. It is $25 for an hour of bowling, and there is a countdown at the top righthand side of the TV screen so you can give the infamous “you have 5 minutes left!!” parenting phrase.

There are many different “versions” of bowling you can play. Traditional 10 frame bowling or Angry Birds style, where the bowling pins represent different pigs and your bowling ball represents the different birds you use. There’s plenty of space for multiple players, and if you arrive at the right time and your group is big enough, you can snag two lanes next to each other to give everyone a chance to play!

And maybe I failed to accurately describe the amazing menu. It. has. everything. Appetizers. Wings. Salads. Burgers. Pasta (!!). Dessert. And obviously pizza. And did you know you can get the pizza half-and-half? Orleans Station also has a whiskey selection, a “Rocktail Menu”, and yummy non-alcoholic options too.

Bonus: it’s a great indoor spot for those rainy and already freezing cold temperatures! What are you waiting for? Drive on over to Madison Avenue and enjoy a slice of their Super Freak pizza (white sauce, honey, caramelized onions and spicy sausage) and let your kid(s) throw their best strike!
