5 Memphis Organizations to Support This Giving Tuesday

moneyToday is Giving Tuesday. A breath of fresh air after a crazy 3 day shopping spree of Black (Business) Friday, Small Business Saturday, and yesterday's Cyber Monday. Today is about spending money -- but in a way that directly impacts the 901! This Giving Tuesday, we’ve selected five area organizations to get the spotlight (and hopefully your dollars).

5 Memphis Organizations to Support This Giving Tuesday

Did you know Memphis surpassed Salt Lake City this year to rank as the most generous metropolitan area in the United States, giving almost $6 of every $100 earned to philanthropy? While there are so many amazing organizations in our city dedicated to looking out for the well being of all Memphians, we wanted to focus our Giving Tuesday spotlights to those specifically related to parenthood and investing in the lives of kids.

1 |  Memphis Mom Collective Single Mom Fund

To be honest, we would be remiss if we didn't tell you about our heart for single moms. Being a mom is hard. But here at MMC, we feel that being a single mom, especially around the holidays, is extra hard. This year we're unable to host our city-wide toy drive and annual Single Mom Spa & Shop. Because of Covid (ugh), we're pivoting our plans --- and still striving to bless a single mom. That's why for every $50 donated, we'll send a single single mom who registers for our assistance, a $50 Amazon gift card. It's that simple. It's that easy.

2 |  Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry

diaper ministrySweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry is a local, nonprofit 501c3 organization founded to provide clean, dry diapers to families in need.  The mission of the organization is to meet the basic needs of families by providing diapers, wipes, and other necessities for their babies and improving their quality of life. The vision of the organization is to create a community that is passionate, aware, and dedicated to happy and healthy babies.

3 |  Le Bonheur Children's Hospital

Voted Best Children's Hospital by US News, it's a place where every child matters. In fact, last year, Le Bonheur staff cared for over 250,000 children. Because you are giving from the heart, they can better meet the complex needs of every child.

4 |  The ANGEL Program

Memphis Moms Blog angel program
The ANGEL Program is the only program of its kind in the region, integrating ABA in an inclusive classroom setting for students ages 3-11 within a traditional private school. Both ANGEL Program students and their typical peers benefit from working side-by-side from an early age. Their regular interaction results in increased independence and improved confidence, with peers gaining compassion for, and acceptance of, their differences. They are dedicated to helping children on the autism spectrum achieve their fullest potential in a mainstream classroom setting.

5 |  Girls Inc. of Memphis

A combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to lead fulfilling and productive lives, break the cycle of poverty, and become role models in their community.

It’s Time :: Moms, Let’s Do Better
I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Maybe I’m old-school or am just imagining it (I’m not.), but it seems these days it’s becoming more and more typical for people to casually stroll into meetings 10-15 minutes late, blow off dinner plans for an hour […]
Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area. Since our school had kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building, the entire school attended the program. I have such fond memories of the Veterans of […]
