We Love Single Moms
The Memphis Moms Blog realizes how extremely amazing our single moms are.

Day in and day out they parent solo with their mad parenting skills. We also understand how taxing it is to be a single parent: not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. That is why this holiday season we have decided to honor and bless these women! December is "single mom" month, and we hope you will join us to support these (tired) mamas!

Last week we launched our FIRST ANNUAL TOY DRIVE. We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for ages birth through twelve.

Go Mini's of Memphis has graciously donated the use of a 20 foot storage pod, currently located in the back parking lot of Highpoint Church, 6000 Briarcrest Ave. So our goal is to PACK THE POD and have it brimming with toys for the single moms to choose from! The pod will be open Sunday, December 9 and Sunday, December 17 from 8:30-12:30.

In addition to the pod, we have remote collection locations set up around town! A huge thank you to our toy drive locations:

Downtown:

Midtown:

U of M area:

The Casual Pint ($1 off a beer if you bring in a toy!)
Cafe Eclectic, S. Highland

East Memphis:

Collierville:

Arlington:

So how do the single moms GET the new toys? Great question! We have planned an amazing afternoon for ALL single moms of Memphis!

On December 17, from 3-5, we are going to host SINGLE MOMS SPA & SHOP at The Hub Coffee Shop! Single moms will be blessed with:

  • Nails by Jamberry Nails
  • Makeovers by Mary Kay
  • Blow outs and hair styles provided by Shear Perfection Salon
  • Complementary buffet of coffee, Christmas cookies, and other sweet treats by Frost Bakeshop, Smallcakes Collierville and Amy Howard desserts!

After an hour of pampering, the moms will be shopping from the selection of new toys that ALL OF YOU so graciously donated. These moms can relax, get loved on, AND have some of the financial burden of Christmas relieved. On top of it all, this is event is completely FREE to attend and there will be FREE childcare on site for all single moms attending!!!

Crady, Lori, and Erika (and all the writers of MMB) thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts for all of your donations! We have a passion for supporting all moms of Memphis and what better way to show it than to come alongside our single moms this Christmas.

It’s Time :: Moms, Let’s Do Better
I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Maybe I’m old-school or am just imagining it (I’m not.), but it seems these days it’s becoming more and more typical for people to casually stroll into meetings 10-15 minutes late, blow off dinner plans for an hour […]
Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area. Since our school had kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building, the entire school attended the program. I have such fond memories of the Veterans of […]
