Like You Film Club supports the emotional growth and mental wellness of kids through the power of film. With monthly family film screenings plus an annual film festival, we create community and conversation around stories that all ages enjoy. We create an experience that’s not just entertaining but emotionally enriching—for kids and grownups alike.

Can you remember a movie from your childhood that changed the way you see the world? That sparked your imagination? That helped you feel less alone?

When a child sees the right movie at the right time it can help them understand themselves and find their place in the world – it can literally change the course of their life. Childhood is a formative time. The stories we watch can help us become brave, kind, confident, curious, and resilient. They help us become the best “us” we can be.

Join us at an upcoming event this month to find out what we’re all about.

  • Preview Party – Saturday, October 17 from 1:30-3:30pm at the Pink Palace. At this free event, we’ll have crafts, snacks, and music before announcing the schedule for our inaugural Like You Children’s Film Festival. We’ll tell you all about the exciting films we have programmed and play trailers for the selected films.

  • Where the Wild Things Are – Saturday, October 25 at 11:00am at the Pink Palace Giant Screen Theater. Doors open at 10:30. Come watch the 2009 film adaptation of the beloved classic picture book, and get in touch with the wild things inside you. Come in costume for a discount on concessions.
  • Like You Children’s Film Festival – November 22-23 at the Pink Palace. This two day event is like family movie night times infinity. Two theaters will show a variety of kid-friendly films over the course of two days. Discover new independent feature films, or take in short films by the freshest voices in children’s filmmaking. Plus, we’ll host workshops with local filmmakers, interactive crafts and activities, filmmaker Q&A’s, and story time with a special guest.

Now more than ever, kids face challenges to their mental health and wellbeing. According to a study by Sesame Workshop, 88% of parents are at least slightly concerned about kids’ mental health, and 84% of Millennial and Gen Z parents wish they had been taught more about managing their emotions when they were a kid.

We created Like You Film Club because stories have power. They help us process our feelings, and open us up to new ideas. They help us discover our worth and inspire us to take a stand.

They teach us in the words of Fred Rogers that “whatever is mentionable can be more manageable.”

Founded by local dad and filmmaker, Noah Glenn, Like You Film Club builds on his years of work in children’s media, with a specific focus on social-emotional learning. In 2020, he launched Like You: Mindfulness for Kids, an award-winning podcast that has been featured by Apple Podcasts, Common Sense Media, and Kids Listen. After writing and directing a series of short films that took him to children’s film festivals across the country, he knew he had to build a film festival experience for kids and families in Memphis.
