“Lifting Weights Will Make Women Bulky”

This is an absolute myth instilled into our brains by society.  The truth is, weights will give us the lean, feminine (and STRONG) body we have actually envisioned in our head.   Lifting weights will increase your muscle mass, which increases your metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories!  Having a higher metabolic rate means it is easier to burn fat when you are in a calorie deficit and you can eat more at maintenance calories!  So get off the treadmill and pick up some dumbbells to fit better in your clothes and gain the confidence and strength you desire.

Workout pants

When it comes to workout pants, I have many favorites at all different price points!  When I am buying workout bottoms, they have to be squat proof, of good quality material, and have pockets.

  1. My favorite high end athletic apparel is Lululemon, hands down.  Their Fast and Free tights are so soft and light that it feels like you are running without anything on. Plus they hold all that extra mama goodness in place.
  2. My Mid-range is Victoria’s Secret Total Knockout Tights (they have to be the total knockout version not regular).
  3. My lower price point is 90 Degrees by Reflex. These can be found at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx for less than $20!  I only buy the Interlinx, Cool Max, or Airlux versions.

It’s Time :: Moms, Let’s Do Better
I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Maybe I’m old-school or am just imagining it (I’m not.), but it seems these days it’s becoming more and more typical for people to casually stroll into meetings 10-15 minutes late, blow off dinner plans for an hour […]
Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area. Since our school had kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building, the entire school attended the program. I have such fond memories of the Veterans of […]
