Our Favorite Things 2018
Memphis MMB 2018 Favorite Things
{Disclosure: This list is brought to you by our line-up of favorite local brands. Every last one of these recommendations are truly favorites of Memphis Moms Blog, and we personally solicited all companies for inclusion.}

Memphis Moms Blog is excited and thrilled to introduce to you our first annual "Favorite Things!"

What is this you ask? Let us explain! The Memphis Moms Blog loves to promote and endorse local businesses and products. So we scoured the city and found our top 10 favorite items -- giving them our "mom stamp of approval."
Celebrating our third birthday this October, MMB kicked off our birthday month with a "Favorite Things" party, exclusively for our contributors. Each writer received a swag bag with all ten items -- our way of thanking them for their dedication to providing you, our readers, with new and relevant content daily.
So without further ado, here's our hand-selected TOP 10 FAVORITE THINGS of 2018! (We hope you'll consider soliciting these businesses, loving their products as much as we do. #supportlocal #choose901)

Bellower Artisans

MMB's Favorite Things 2018

Located near the University of Memphis, Belltower Artisans is a beautiful combination of local coffeehouse and pottery studio. Owned by two college students (not kidding!), their goal is to bring people together -- for crafting, caffeine, or community! You can purchase handmade pottery on site, or learn to make it yourself through a class. You can also book the space for private events. They proudly serve only local coffee roasters, including Dr. Beans, JBrooks, and Vice & Virtue.

Gifts from Nature

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Gifts From Nature is more like Gifts From Heaven. Handcrafted by local artisan, Kimeli Wade, Gifts From Nature products are all-natural, detergent free, and only made with honest ingredients. The line of products includes salves, finishing oils, soap bars, and bath bombs. The bath bars in particular are the perfect balance of cleansing, moisturizing and conditioning. You can also purchase Gifts From Nature products from locally owned boutiques around Memphis!

So Fresh and So Green

MMB Favorite Things 2018

What mama doesn't like a clean house? So Fresh and So Green is an all-natural and organic housekeeping company.  They believe in keeping a small-town feel and making sure each and every client has their individual needs met. So Fresh and So Green uses people- and pet- safe, non toxic products to help keep homes happy and healthy.  In addition to their awesome home services, they also created their own line of cleaning products including stone surface cleaner, everything cleaner, and our personal favorite, glass cleaner (this one smells like fresh picked peppermint!).

Huey's

MMB Favorite Things 2018

At 9 locations all over the city, Huey's is known for serving up Blues, Brews and Burgers! (And where else can you shoot toothpicks into the ceiling?) A Memphis institution, their mouth-watering burgers have been voted "Best Burger" since 1984. In addition to their food menu, Huey's is famous for their spice burger rub. Available for purchase at any of their restaurants and inside most grocery stores, you can enjoy Huey's flavor right on your grill! We also love Huey's because they love giving back -- to local charities and community organizations.

Easel Town

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Paul and Lisa Miller have been combining their talent for over 12 years as they spread their love of the arts and teaching within the Memphis community. Originally operated out of their home studio, Easel Town was created with the purpose of providing unique, fine art instruction for children -- especially  in an environment that encouraged problem solving and a willingness to make mistakes. Easel Town recently opened their first brick & mortar location, offering art classes for pre-school age through high school. In addition to art, they offer sewing classes, computer animation, after-school tutoring services, and most recently, birthday parties. Watch out for their summer camp schedule as well!

SweeTees Printing

MMB Favorite Things 2018

SweeTees Printing is a family owned and operated screen printing company with one goal in mind -- a satisfied customer. From initial design to final printing, SweeTees keeps the customer involved in the entire process.  At SweeTees, you receive high quality shirts (and other products) at great prices that are delivered on time. While technically located in MS, we'll give them a pass because we love them so much!

Riverside 1844 Artisanal Foods

If you need goodies for gifts (or just for yourself!), look no further. Riverside 1844 Artisanal Foods is owned and operated by a life long Memphian. Riverside 1844 sells best-quality, hand made, small-batch items such as mustards, jams, chutneys, and spreads. Known for their Fire & Ice pickles (crazy good!) and Bourbon soaked cherries (where's the champagne?!), you honestly won't taste anything as delicious. In addition to the canned goods offered, Riverside 1844 also sells limited quantities of baked goods, such as homemade cookies, seasonal breads, and cakes. You can find Riverside 1844 products for sale at many local specialty stores, as well as farmer's markets and festivals.

Camerin's Cookies

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Camerin's Cookies are truly amazing -- high-quality, home made sugar cookies that melt in your mouth. Owner and baker, Kathy, meticulously cuts out and decorates any shape or theme you'd like. Perfect for birthdays, gender reveals, graduations, retirements, and of course holiday parties, Camerin's Cookies deliver perfect, delicious, gourmet treats. In addition to personal orders, Camerin's Cookies are sold at a few area coffee shops. Interested in decorating your own cookies? You can either order a DYI kit from Camerin's Cookies, or take a decorating class, now offered monthly at Little Studio on the Square in Arlington.

Lance David White, local artist

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Originally from Iowa, Lance David White is a local artist with a flair for color. Bold and bright, Lance paints images that sometimes reflect nature, sometimes still objects and sometimes his love of New Orleans. Known for his comical gnomes (and sometimes his no-no gnomes!), Lance's sense of humor shines through his art. In addition to commission pieces, you can admire Lance's work in area galleries. Lance enjoys selling his artwork at local craft fairs and art festivals. He soon plans to expand his talent to painting [birthday] parties and home-school group lessons.

Vice & Virtue

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Vice and Virtue is an artisan-roaster of specialty-grade coffees serving the greater Memphis area. They are members of the Specialty Coffee Association and the Roasters Guild. Their goal is simple: make excellent coffee accessible. (And we're here to tell you, they've succeeded!) To quote one of their fans, "Simply complex, Vice and Virtue is the best roasted coffee beans in Memphis." We agree.

BEER SPONSOR ---- The Casual Pint

MMB Favorite Things 2018

A huge thank you to our beer sponsor for the evening, The Casual Pint. Located on South Highland, The Casual Pint is a local watering hole specializing in a variety of local, domestic and foreign rotating beers on tap -- 29 to be exact. Want a bottled or canned beer? No problem -- just grab one from the Singles Cooler and bring it to the bar for the bartenders to pour for you! The Casual Pint is owned and operated by local mom, Lisa Caufield. Her philosophy is neighbors serving neighbors, so not only will you find an abundance of craft beers, you'll also find a friendly staff waiting to serve you.  Enjoy the fall weather on the comfortable, dog-friendly outdoor patio or take your beer to go. Growlers, mix-a-six, and kegs are all available for purchase. Be sure to check the Facebook page for a schedule of nightly events, such as Singo! and trivia night.

FOOD SPONSOR ---- Fuel Cafe / Food Truck

MMB Favorite Things 2018

Our party would not have been complete without the generosity of our food sponsor, Fuel Cafe. Located on Madison Avenue in Midtown, Fuel Cafe is a one-of-a-kind restaurant that is absolutely amazing. Open for lunch and dinner, they offer a vegetarian-forward menu -- plus bison, grass fed beef, hormone free chicken and sustainable seafood. Known for dishes such as their walnut loaf and  gourmet pizza, their menu items will surprise and please even the most demanding critic. In addition to their Madison location, Fuel Cafe also has a food truck on a rotating schedule around the city, as well as full service catering. It's no wonder Fuel Cafe won "Best of Memphis, best vegetarian" by Memphis Flyer!

VENUE SPONSOR ---- Transfor{M}ama

20180613_212331

Transfor{M}ama is a collaborative effort of two local moms.  Considered a “work and play” studio, moms can either utilize “the nest” — a relaxing area to share a cup of coffee or catch up on email – – or “the studio” — 1000 ft.² of space offering pre-and postnatal fitness classes offered through Fit4Mom or various parent/child enrichment classes.
