Memphis Mom Co | Guide to Black Owned Local Businesses

Since March of 2020, small businesses have taken hit after hit due to unemployment rates, lack of adequate staff, and decreases in revenue, amongst other issues. Memphis is considered a majority-minority city -- meaning approximately 63% of residents are Black. AND more than half of the city's small businesses are also Black-owned businesses (BOB). Companies like Google have decided to do their part to combat systemic racism by elevating the marketing efforts of black-owned businesses allowing users to easily search for a BOB near them.

With over 30% of Memphis' Black community continuing to live in poverty, it's more important than ever that we shop local, and Black, as often as possible We encourage you to not only shop local, but consider shopping one or many of these Black-owned businesses. "Choosing 901" is vital to growing our city's economy and revitalizing our neighborhoods!

Shop Momeo  is a philanthropic effort started by mother and CEO, Mia Jaye, to raise money for the families who are victims of gun violence and to raise awareness to the cause and mission that "Black Men Deserve to Grow Old". Proceeds from the apparel sold will be donated to supporting the needs of as many as 33 families by 2022.

Throughout the month of November and in preparation for Thanksgiving, we are sharing the things that we are thankful for as mothers. We're calling this our "Thankful Series." It’s Time :: Moms, Let’s Do Better
I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Maybe I’m old-school or am just imagining it (I’m not.), but it seems these days it’s becoming more and more typical for people to casually stroll into meetings 10-15 minutes late, blow off dinner plans for an hour […]
Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area. Since our school had kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building, the entire school attended the program. I have such fond memories of the Veterans of […]
