The Mid-South's Premier Parenting Resource

I love lots of things about Memphis. But one of my favorite things of all is the FOOD! And, I know, I know, we're a barbeque city (check out our guide on that here), but there's so much more! And Ryu, tucked away in a little shopping center at Summer and White Station, has become one of my favorite spots.

Ryu sushi bar

Ryu has been around since 2018, but they are under new management. Located in East Memphis, it is convenient to many areas of town and is right off of 240, so it is the perfect spot to stop in for lunch. They also work with Uber Eats and DoorDash, so if you can't make it in, you can order it right to you!

It seems that everything good is coming to, or already on, Summer Ave. and it's very true of Ryu. Right next door is an Asian Grocery that has the best deals on rice and it's by several big box stores like At Home. Ryu recently updated their kitchen and dining area and now have a great, open kitchen.

The real draw of Ryu is the food. It features traditional Japanese and Vietnamese dishes (so no rice based dishes). The sushi there is amazing and has always been very fresh. Plus they offer a variety of pho dishes, perfect for a winter lunch. One of my favorite items on the menu is the dumpling soup. Technically it is an appetizer, so it's just the right size to eat while you are waiting on your sushi. But it's AMAZING. The pho is also delicious. They have a variety of regular pho plus kimchi phos. Yum. They also have a fried cheesecake dessert and if one of you goes and orders that, please let me know how it is!

I normally hate food pictures, but how good does that look?!?

I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area.
