GO! SEE! EXPLORE! : Pitter Potter Mobile

I don't know about you, but I'm always on the lookout for fun activities to do at home with my kids. I sometimes find myself on a weekend without a birthday party, or a rainy afternoon, with shockingly little to do with my kids. Enter, Pitter Potter Mobile.

Now, I will say this requires a bit of forward thinking; you can't just call them up and have them deliver to you same-day. They are a mobile paint-your-own-pottery business. But, you can get on their website now, today, order a few pieces, and have them ready to go. Then when you do run into one of those previously mentioned down days, you have a whole kit ready to go.

Pitter Potter Mobile delivers all over Shelby County for $4.99 (that fee is waived if you order more than $50). That fee includes them dropping off whatever pieces you have chosen plus the paint, picking it up again once you have finished painting, and then dropping it off AGAIN after it has been fired.

They carry SO MANY pieces (over 150!): mommy and me pieces, beverage and dinnerware, seasonal pieces, etc. I actually discovered them because my kids paint an Easter egg every year. Luckily, they had painted one right before COVID shut the world down in 2020. But the next year, I was having a hard time finding ceramic eggs. Pitter Potter Mobile had closed their storefront due to COVID and had changed to doing solely delivery from their studio only. They offered several sizes of ceramic eggs, so it was perfect!

Since that initial year, I've ordered ceramic eggs from them for my kids to paint every year. We now have quite the collection of painted eggs and my kids look forward to painting them every year. It's also fun to watch the progression of techniques and colors that my kids choose every year as they get older and what they like changes.

Their latest offering is custom pet portraits painted onto dinnerware. How cute would it be to have a coffee mug or serving platter with your pet on it??

In addition to their ceramic offerings, they also offer over 100 canvas ideas for you to paint at home. It's basically advanced paint-by-numbers. Each canvas is delivered pre-stenciled with the outlines of your design, an instruction pack, and a paint pack with all the acrylic paint needed to complete your project. Plus, if you need any help, you can all them. How much fun would this be for a mom's night with your friends?

Finally, they offer clay handprint and footprint kits. This would be so cute for a new baby! The kit includes 1 pound of clay and all instructions. This one is a bit more complicated because it requires 2 firings and the glaze happens after the first firing. You could also use this for paw prints for your animal child!

I have a serious question. (This rarely happens. *wink*) When did it become okay to be late? Veterans Day and Our Kids
My first memories of celebrating Veterans Day are from elementary school. In my tiny hometown of Bruceton, TN, we had an awesome celebration each year to honor veterans in the area. Since our school had kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building, the entire school attended the program. I have such fond memories of the Veterans of […]
