20 Best {Holiday} Toys and Gifts for 11 Year Old Boys
Editors Note: There are many research-based articles on the pros and cons of gender-specific toys, a topic that many parents are passionate about. In our toy series with our partner Wicked Uncle, we will be highlighting a specific age and gender. Our sister sites in other parts of the country will be doing the same, with a collective goal to provide a comprehensive list of quality toy choices based on developmental milestones. You will find as you look through the lists that our top choices are great for any gender. We encourage play and imagination at any age!
I have a large family — four girls and 1 boy to be exact. And while it’s super fun shopping for girls, where I end up having a really great time selecting gifts is for my son. He’s eleven and at the “perfect age” right now. He’s still a young boy at heart, but he can handle playing games that take wit, thought, or even physical endurance. He’s also like his mama and super competitive! If you have an amazing 11 year old boy like me, they deserve some “outside the box” toys this year. I’ve gone ahead and rounded up my Top 20 for you:

- Wanna Bet?
Does your 11 year old like to argue and bet against you? Then try this hilarious game! It challenges your family and friends to physical and mental tasks. But of course there’s a twist: the other players can bet on whether they think you will succeed or not! - Make Your Own Lego Movie
I mean, what boy doesn’t love building with legos? This gift uses their mini lego actors (minifigs for those with lego jargin knowledge) to plot and script mini movies. You can mix and match the faces and bodies of the legos to get dozens of new story ideas. Download the app to have your child get directing! - Bean Boozled Jelly Bean Challenge
Uh, everyone knows that 11 year olds think gross things are funny, right? Then this game is right up their alley. Spin the spinner to see which jelly bean to eat. Jelly beans look the same but taste totally different. Will it be delicious or hysterically gross? - Wicked Pranks and Jokes
Every tween thinks pranks are THE BEST. Especially done on sisters! This game has so many ideas; you’ll be laughing for weeks. Prank your friends and family with mischief-making jokes like the Jumping Spider Eggs and seriously funny stunts with the Selfie Phone Squirter! - Magno Darts
We actually have an old-school dart board in our kitchen. But we’ve lost the darts and, to be honest, they were quite dangerous! But Magno Darts is super safe. The darts hit the board magnetically but still pack a punch of fun! - Slam Ball Set
Remember how I mentioned my son was super competitive? Well, this game is perfect for those kids who want to win! In this ball game, bouncing the slam balls onto the ankle high circular net sounds easy, but it’s a test of who has the best hand-eye coordination. Comes with two competition size 9cm balls and one 12cm training ball. - Aqua Diver Pool Game
Do you have a strong swimmer? Then this super summer toy will provide hours of fun. Dive in, then race against the clock to grab the squid. Hit the button to stop the timer and compare times to see who swam the fastest! - Mini Hornit
My eleven year old son is part of a neighborhood “biker gang.” This bike/scooter accessory is the perfect thing to elevate his fun while biking with his friends. Durable and waterproof, it’s loaded with 25 fun sounds including a horn, motorbike, UFO, police car, helicopter, magic spell, a lion’s roar, and even an old-fashioned bike bell! - Waboba Moon Ball
This entertaining ball has a crazy spin and often goes in the opposite direction that you thought it was going! With it’s fast bouncing capability and lightweight design, you can bounce it off the floor, walls, pavements or just about anything. Just be sure to remind your eleven year old the BALL is supposed to be the thing bouncing off the walls, not him! - Waboba Wingman Flying Disc
Last year the “Easter Bunny” brought this silicon frisbee to my eleven year old son. He was thrilled and used it right away in our backyard. Later in the year, it was the perfect toy to bring to the beach. This cool 6″ frisbee folds up and fits in a pocket, then unfolds to fly upwards of 40 yards! - Laser Chess
My eleven year old has been a part of his school’s chess team for the last two years. He loves this game of strategy and miraculously can sit still to play this game of wits. Well, this version takes the traditional game up a notch. With the 26 playing pieces and two lasers, players take turns moving their pieces around the board, firing beams from your lasers at the end of each turn. The laser bounces from mirror to mirror and when it strikes the non-mirrored side of any piece, that piece is eliminated from play. - Edible Chemistry Kit
If there’s anything I’ve learned about eleven year old boys, it’s that they’re always hungry for snacks. But not healthy ones. Enter this edible chemistry kit! Combine science (keep that brain working!) and food for the perfect fun. Eat your way through 16 tasty experiments like color changing foaming jelly, fizzy drinks, and polymer pudding. - I Am White Tiger-Shaped Puzzle
I tend to forget that big kids love puzzles, too. This impressive white tiger jigsaw puzzle has 300 pieces and measures 16″ x 16″ when completed. Rainy day fun! - Camo Slap Watch
Remember slap bracelets from your youth? Well, they’re baaaaaack! Be the cool parent and buy your eleven year old this slap watch. Plunge-proof, you can remove the watch face to swap out the straps — although we think the camo one is the absolute best! - Top Secret Invisible Ink Journal
Your son have sisters? Does he want to keep them from snooping into top secret plans (or thoughts!)? Then he needs this invisible ink journal. Uses a special light to reveal the words! Comes with a lock and two keys for extra security. - Slimeball Dodgetag
A twist on dodgeball has the kids throwing slime balls instead of traditional dodge balls! Players simply throw the soft slime balls at their opponent’s sticky vests, trying to hit them on the target. The four slime balls stick to the vests, but nothing else (in theory!). - Pac-Man Handheld Game
Another classic game of our childhood makes a comeback! Measuring 6″ by 4″, this pocket-sized version of the arcade game even has the original sounds and Arcade style joystick. Perfect to stash away for restaurant visits while waiting for food to arrive! - Super Scarab Putty
What is it about eleven year old boys and messy slime, play doh, or silly putty? Well, look no futher! This putty is amazing — it’s mesmerizing tones of purple, blue, green, and copper shift color before your eyes. (No wonder our kids are obsessed!) - Dog Gone Tennis Ball Blaster
Know what’s even better than Man’s Best Friend? Boy’s Best Friend! Our son not only picked out our family dog from the litter, but he named him, too. Their bond is fun to watch. Which is why this tennis ball blaster is perfect for both our dog and son! (Plus, they can wear each other out, which is the point!) - Hamburger Squishable
These adorable and crazy soft pillows aren’t just for girls! Measuring at 16″, this hamburger squishable is perfect for any eleven year old boy who wants something soft to use while watching tv or reading in bed!
